... That was the exclamation of friends who entered my “workshop”
I am designing my reborns to look as real as a newborn baby. In order to create a transculent skin, it is coloured with several layers of Genesis Heat Paints. Even tiniest veines are shimmer through, as well as stork bites and little styes. Every little crinkle is shaded. This colouring takes several days. To provide the colours from fading and to make them smear- and scratchproof, the Genesis Paints are burned-in in a special oven. The hair is rooted with the thinnest needle on the market so no stitch holes can be seen with the naked eye. I am using high quality Mohair, which comes closest to baby-hair. I decided to use the most complex rooting-technique, the “Directional Mono Rooting”- which means that there is always just one hair per stitch in the scalp. This technique is quite time-consuming, but creates a lovely hairstyle, which can be slightly wetted and differently styled, due to a sealing on head’s inside. Of course, the natural direction of the hair growthis considered. Finger- and toenails are made naturally, without gloss coating. For each doll kit I am chosing a specifically formed disk jointed body, so realistic baby positions can be imitated. I am using glas granules, vinyl granules and fibre filling for the filling of the body in order to create a lifelike weight- there is no sand in my dolls! Each working step is carried out with accuracy and love for detail. Every doll is unique and therefore a uncium- there will be no second one!
